Why is your company joining the STEM Alliance?

Intel supports educators in leading the transformation of education. We offer technology tools, lesson guides, and best practices to drive student engagement and skill building in an effective, secure, and manageable way. It is our responsibility to supply and prepare these students for the tech-driven world that we spent so much time developing. In joining the STEM Alliance, Intel seeks to align and collaborate with other alliance members to implement joint solutions which can reinvigorate STEM teaching and learning. As facilitators and developers of technology that aims to enrich the lives of everyone on earth, we want to give these students their best shot as the next generation of innovators.

Why is STEM education a priority for your company?

  • Intel believes that young people are the key to solving global challenges, and a solid math and science foundation combined with skills such as critical thinking, collaboration and digital literacy are crucial for their success.
  • To help educators foster the next generation of innovators, Intel provides a wide array of STEM-centered online tools and resources – all designed to inspire better learning and greater discovery.
  • The available resources include professional development for teachers around the world, and free curricula that has been shown to encourage student interest and participation in AI and STEM-related subjects.
  • For example, the Intel® Skills for Innovation Initiative (Intel® SFI) empowers decision makers and educators in adopting technology to create innovative learning experiences which actively engage students in all learning environments—virtual, at school, or blended. By inspiring teachers and learners to reach their full potential through a technology-supported, skills-based approach, the Intel SFI Initiative guides them to build their skills to maximize learning outcomes and prepare students for a changing, technology-dominated world.
  • Also, Intel has rolled out Digital Readiness Programs globally such as AI for Youth and AI for Future workforce. These programs have been created in partnership with government, academia, civil society and industry stakeholders. This shared value and shared responsibility program portfolio aims to demystify and democratize Emerging Technologies for broader non-technical audiences, irrespective of their location, gender and ethnicity.

Why is innovation/curiosity/pushing the boundaries in education technology important to you?

Technology in education and the right devices in students' hands helps prepare them with the career and technical skills they need to be successful today and in tomorrow's workforce. Relevant learning experiences in STEM can inspire creativity, help students apply meaning to their learning, and prepare them for future career opportunities and jobs that haven't even been created yet. Specific skills in coding, programming, physical computing, and computational thinking have become common requirements in the workforce. Though making, students can gain these skills and hone their problem-solving and critical thinking skills for the 21st century. Learning by doing with maker mindsets and environments can be very engaging when designed and integrated with the right technology.

Through the STEM Alliance, Intel can help school systems enhance the experience of each student and educator with a holistic solutions approach that focuses on technology to enable personalized learning, connected, and efficient classrooms, and a secure, powerful IT infrastructure. All the while, educators must be properly trained and supported through ongoing professional learning resources and communities.
