Join forces with science and participate in the unique “Three Rs in Education Competition for teachers 2021”!
The European Union is committed to Replacing, Reducing, Refining the use of animals in science – the principles of Three Rs. Educators are the key to informing young and critical minds about the future of animal welfare by developing the sustainable and “good” science of the future through STEM education. With the Three Rs in Education Competition for teachers 2021, teachers can create and test materials that include alternatives to animal testing in science, and make lessons using learning scenarios more interesting and connected to real life for students. Furthermore, teachers have the unique opportunity to include elements from other disciplines and introduce their students to critical thinking activities but also a wide variety of topics ranging from sustainability to ethics, philosophy and modern scientific practices. Teachers and students are called to study existing materials but also create their own activities and materials that explain and potentially question what we’ve known and accepted so far about scientific research, and visualize how the future of research could look like without the use of animals.
The competition calls for the submission of Learning Scenarios on Three Rs either resulting from the Massive Open Online Course ″The Three Rs and Animal Use in Science″ that took place between 13 January 2020 and 19 February 2020 or new ones using the new Three Rs Learning Scenario template.
