Leveraging the experiences of four EU funded projects, the event "STE(A)M: the Future of Inclusive Education?" will explore how STEAM can be used to create authentic learning experiences that leave no one behind. Whether addressing economic disparities, gender imbalances, or accessibility for students with disabilities, this event highlights how STEAM can become a powerful tool to empower every child.

SPEAKERS

 

  • Sabrina Bresciani: Sabrina Bresciani is an Associate Professor at the Design Department of Politecnico di Milano. She teaches design for inclusivity and specializes in service design for the public sector. She published four books and has been teaching in ten universities worldwide, living in eight countries. She is the founder of three nonprofit organizations on inclusivity.
  • Achilles Kameas: Dr. Eng. Achilles D. Kameas is Professor of Pervasive Computing Systems at Hellenic Open University (HOU). He serves as Dean of Faculty of Science & Technology and is Member of the HOU Senate, of the Board of HOU Lifelong Learning Center and of HOU Gender Equality and Inclusion Committee. He is the Director of Studies of the MSc course “Pervasive and Mobile Computing Systems” and Head of the established Ubiquitous and Mobile Computing, Quality and Ambient Intelligence Laboratory. He founded the DAISSy Research Group (http://daissy.eap.gr) in 2000. At international level, Achilles is coordinator of E+/Teacher Academies SpicE project and member of the Board of ALL DIGITAL aisbl. He participates in the Working Group on Diversity & Inclusion of EADTU, leading the work on the Inclusion of migrants in European Higher Education and is Leader of WP3 “Widening participation of under-represented groups in Higher Education and Lifelong Learning” of the OpenEU European University Alliance. Achilles has participated in more than 100 EU and national R&D projects, published more than 250 scientific articles, co-authored more than 10 books and received more than 2500 citations. He has co-authored the Manifesto for Intelligent Environments and contributed to the development of STEAM educator competence framework and Inclusive STEAM educator competence framework. Achilles has been promoting an inclusive society, via teaching and developing MOOCs and blended courses. His current research interests include digital and green skills, technology enhanced learning, STE(A)M education, smart environments, inclusion and equality, digital cultural heritage and social innovation.
  • Josep Perelló: Josep Perelló is a Full Professor at the University of Barcelona and a researcher at the University of Barcelona Institute of Complex Systems (UBICS). He leads OpenSystems-UB, a research group that develops scientific research projects in urban contexts through citizen participation and artistic practices. His work focuses on climate justice, climate action, air quality, and urban heat, often engaging educational communities and groups in the most vulnerable situations. He coordinated CoAct (Co-designing Citizen Social Science for Collective Action), which won the 2025 European Prize for Citizen Science in the Digital Communities category. He currently leads the social inclusion work package in SENSE, a EU project that promotes art-integrative science education through a sensory and participatory approach to STEAM learning.
