My name is Arda Alpan, and I am a Mechanical Engineer. I live in the beautiful city of Istanbul in Turkey. I work for a big company called Cummins as a Customer Engineering Manager. I went to university to learn all about how machines work and how to run a business. Today, I lead a team of friendly engineers who help companies design super-strong engines for giant vehicles! Meet the professional
I work in the automotive world (the world of vehicles!). My job is all about engines, the powerful hearts inside vehicles that make them move, and all the parts that connect to them.
To build great engines, my team and I use STEM every day: Science, Technology, Engineering, and Maths.
- Science & Physics: We study how metals stay strong and how heat moves around inside an engine so it doesn't get too hot.
- Engineering & Tech: We design clever systems to control how the engine runs smoothly and safely.
- Maths: We use numbers and equations to calculate how strong parts need to be.
My team helps vehicle companies build big trucks, city buses, and heavy construction diggers. These helpful machines work every day all around the world to build roads, transport goods, and carry people to school and work.

Advice to take away
Pay attention to what makes your eyes light up in school! If a subject feels exciting and fun, that is a big clue to your future career. When you do what you love, work rarely feels boring! Remember that everyone is unique.
