Project Manager in Marine Applications - Early & Primary Education
My name is Lisa! I am 25 years old, and I live in France. I love science and boats! When I was little, I loved learning about how things work. I studied very hard, and now I have a very special job. I help make sure that big engines are built and sent safely to boats all over the world! I work at a company called Cummins.
Meet the professional
At Cummins, we make engines for boats, fishing boats, cruise ships, and yachts. When someone buys an engine, my job is to make sure it is exactly what they need, that it works well, and that it arrives on time. I talk to many people in my team and make sure everyone has the right information. I also check that the engine is built, tested, and delivered safely to the customer.

Skills
Solving Problems
Projects do not always go as planned. When something goes wrong—such as an engine being damaged during delivery—quick thinking and effective solutions are essential to keep everything on track.
Staying Organised
Managing schedules, documents, meetings, and deadlines is key to ensuring engines are built, tested, and delivered on time with everything in order.
Talking with People
Clear communication helps ensure that everyone understands their role. Explaining information in simple ways avoids confusion and keeps the whole team aligned.
Working as a Team
Assigning tasks based on people’s strengths and following up on progress ensures that the team works efficiently and that project goals are achieved.
Being Curious
Each project brings something new. Learning about customers and their needs helps deliver better solutions and continuously improve the way projects are managed.
Advice to take away
Stay curious and keep an open mind! This will help you discover new things, learn new skills, and communicate with people. Project management is taught in engineering schools, so you can ask engineering students for more details.
