Programme Coordinator
I am Programme Coordinator at the Nordic Council of Ministers, where I manage a four-year programme on nature-based solutions (NBS) at the Environment Agency of the Faroe Islands. I also lead the NetworkNature NbS Nordic Hub, creating opportunities for local, regional, and international collaboration to strengthen NBS impacts across the Nordic region and beyond. With a background in public administration, I have coordinated high-impact projects within the Faroese Environment Agency and the Nordic Council of Ministers. I have also held roles as a political advisor, entrepreneur, and board member for various organizations. My education includes a Bachelor’s and a Master’s degree in Public Administration from Roskilde University, and I will soon start a PhD at Aarhus University to explore barriers to NBS implementation in Denmark.
Meet the professional
In my current role as coordinator for the NBS programme of the Nordic Council of Ministers at the Faroese Environment Agency, I lead and administer six Nordic projects and eight sub-projects on NBS. My responsibilities include budget tracking and ensuring all projects run smoothly and on schedule. A significant part of my role is also dedicated to knowledge dissemination, where I share insights and outcomes from these projects across online platforms. I also frequently present at conferences, such as the Biodiversity COP, Climate COP, and other global and Nordic events, to highlight our progress and best practices. As the leader of the NbS Nordic Hub, I work to strengthen and expand NBS impact across the Nordic region, fostering local, regional, and international cooperation.

Advice to take away
Don't be too set on a specific career path you think you "should" follow. For some, it pays off to go with the flow and explore where opportunities arise. Keep an open mind at work, say yes to challenges, and step out of your comfort zone. Every time we do, we grow a little. And remember, when we try something for the first time, it is essential to give ourselves credit just for doing it—no matter the outcome. Only after we have done it a few times, can we begin to set performance expectations.
