Math4U3, Math Exercises for You 3
Description
Mathematics is one of the pillars of technical and science education. However, it is also a difficult and unpopular subject. Attractive and interactive online materials and applications can improve this situation and increase students' interest not only in mathematics itself but also in studying other STEM fields. According to the Digital Education Action Plan, education systems need to be transformed to be suitable for the emerging digital age. This means, among other things, using new teaching materials and methods and supporting open educational resources.
Our goal was to offer teachers and students comprehensive support for all phases of mathematics teaching – from motivation through proper practice of basic skills, support for critical thinking, to competitions and games. We wanted all new materials and applications to be part of the Math4U portal, which was built thanks to the successful projects Math Exercises for You 1 and 2 (2016–2019, 2019– 2022) and now serves hundreds of thousands of teachers and students worldwide for practicing secondary school mathematics and serves teachers as a source of materials for lesson preparation.

Papers
The main Math4U3 project outputs are:
(1) A library of 51 application examples focused on real-world mathematics applications. These examples are available in HTML and PDF format and can be downloaded with complete solutions or as worksheets without solutions.
(2) The FindError4U application containing 206 "Find the Mistake" examples for developing critical thinking. These are solved examples with errors, answer options, and explanatory notes.
(3) The TrainingGames4U application containing 300 practice games of five types – Matching Game, Matching Game – Scrolling Block, Slot Machine, Find All, and Pairs.
(4) The Game4U application and a new version of Math4Teacher. Teachers can now create games from selected questions (from a database of 6,000 questions) using one of three game templates – Uncover the Picture, Triangle, and Football. Students access games in Game4U by entering a unique game code.
The result is an expanded web portal math4u.vsb.cz with innovative tools for critical thinking, training games, application examples, and the ability to create custom competitions. The materials cover the entire secondary school mathematics curriculum and are available in five languages (English, Spanish, Czech, Slovak, Polish).
