EDUCATION RESILIENCE IN EUROPE PROJECT LOOKING FOR TEACHERS’ INPUT

Scientix STE(A)M Partnership “Education Resilience in Europe” is looking for primary and secondary-school teachers to complete an online survey on the challenges they face when teaching immigrant students. The results of the survey, together with insights gained from focus-groups and teacher-led projects currently conducted throughout Europe, will contribute to a series of policy recommendations distributed among European ministries of education and related networks.

The survey is completely anonymous and is estimated to be completed in no more than 20 minutes. All educators, including the currently retired, who have worked with immigrant students are invited to participate.

The work of this project is expected to provide good practices, tools, and recommendations for a smoother integration of children from different social, economic, and geographical backgrounds.
Teachers can access the survey here.

Open call for NGOs and SMEs working on student integration

The Education resilience in Europe initiative, an initiative supported by Scientix STE(A)M Partnerships and funded by Cisco, has issued an open call to SMEs and NGOs working to integrate children from different social, economic, and geographical backgrounds into new educational environments.

The submissions can present new ideas or prototypes ready to be implemented in a new or wider context. They must demonstrate a clear vision of the steps ahead and must provide measurable indicators of the results/key objectives to be achieved.

Projects should submit solutions which:

  • target teachers or parents by addressing their professional development and/or engagement;
  • focus on students from primary and secondary schools (3-21 years old);
  • have clear aims, goals and outcomes;
  • aim to develop resilience in classrooms;
  • support a culture of inclusivity and diversity, strengthening STEM skills;
  • address issues of migration, displacement, and relocation in connection with formal education; and
  • reflect on their added value.

Target countries for this call are EU countries[1] and EU associated countries[2]. Please specify in the application form if the applicant’s country of residence differs from the country where the organization is based.

Selected projects will receive a 24.500 EUR grant which can be used for purposes such as creating materials for teachers’ professional development, piloting new STEM activities in real-life settings, case studies, translation services, and others (see conditions of the call for details).

The deadline to apply is 23:50 CET, 10 January 2023. Submissions will be selected soon after. A kick-off meeting will be held in February, with the respective activities to be deployed after that meeting. The activities will finish in May 2023, with evaluations to follow immediately after. The initiative ends in June 2023.
