Europeana DS Year 4 Master Trainers successfully reach nearly 2,800 educators across Europe
As the national training activities of Europeana Year 4 concluded on 30 April 2026, the network of 50 Europeana Master Trainers established by European Schoolnet® delivered an outstanding result: a total of 2,799 educators were trained across Europe!
This engaged network of teachers extends across Austria, Bulgaria, Croatia, Finland, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Portugal, Romania, Spain, and Sweden, and counts nearly three times the original target of 1,000 participants. The trainings focused on re-using digital cultural heritage from the Europeana platform in education through a STE(A)M pedagogical approach.
Master Trainers and trainees alike have given an overwhelmingly positive response to this experience: 98% expressed satisfaction with the trainings (of the 1,280 respondents who completed the feedback form), a testament to the quality and relevance of their professional development journey through discovering Europeana.
As a key result to these engagement efforts, 142 Stories of Reuse were submitted to the Scientix® STEM Discovery Campaign (February–April 2026) and are eligible for the Scientix Cultural Legacy Award, showcasing the creative ways in which educators across Europe are integrating digital cultural heritage items from Europeana into their classroom practice. Ten Stories of Reuse will be selected to be published on the Teaching with Europeana website and on the Scientix resource repository, where they will serve as community-built inspiration resources for the wider European education community. The authors of the five winning Stories will also be invited to Brussels to attend the upcoming Science Project Workshops (July 2026) organised by Scientix at the Future Classroom Lab.
