The BlueLightS 3rd Call for Blue Challenges is open!
Are you ready to engage your students with real-world challenges linked to oceans, rivers, and water systems?
The BlueLightS project has launched its third and final funding call, supporting schools in developing impactful “Blue Challenges” - short-term projects that strengthen Ocean and Water Literacy while contributing to the EU Mission “Restore our Ocean and Waters by 2030.”
Selected schools will design and implement projects that connect learning with sustainability, encouraging students to explore key topics such as biodiversity, pollution, climate change, and responsible water use. Activities can range from fieldwork and citizen science to creative, digital, or community-based initiatives.
Projects should:
- Engage students through hands-on, interdisciplinary learning
- Link school activities to ocean and water-related challenges
- Encourage collaboration with other schools or local stakeholders
- Support participation in the Network of European Blue Schools
The call is open to primary, secondary, and vocational schools in EU Member States and Horizon Europe associated countries. Schools can apply individually or in partnership with others.
Funding available: up to €3,000 per project
Deadline to apply: 18 September 2026
