Register today for the TINKER MOOC: Teaching informatics through authentic learning and gender inclusion
Are you teaching informatics or STEM and looking for ways to make learning more relevant, engaging, and inclusive? Would you like to address gender imbalances in informatics while working with real-world learning scenarios?
The “Teach Informatics Using Authentic Learning and Gender Inclusion” MOOC is developed within the TINKER project (auThentIc learNing and gender inclusive frameworK for tEaching infoRmatics in schools across Europe) with the support of Scientix®. The MOOC is designed to support educators in strengthening their informatics teaching practice through evidence-based approaches that combine authentic learning with gender-inclusive strategies.
The course targets pre-service and in-service primary and secondary informatics and STEM teachers, non-formal educators, and educational technology professionals. Participants will explore how authentic learning can make informatics more meaningful for students, while learning practical ways to create inclusive classroom environments that support all learners.
Throughout the course, participants will work with concrete examples, analyse existing learning activities, and develop their own authentic, gender-inclusive learning scenarios, ready to be implemented in the classroom. The MOOC also offers the opportunity to exchange experiences and ideas with a European community of educators and EdTech professionals.
What will you learn?
By completing this course, you will be able to:
- Identify the key benefits and challenges of authentic learning in informatics and plan how to integrate this approach into your teaching practice.
- Combine gender-inclusive strategies with authentic learning to design fair and motivating informatics lessons.
- Analyse existing learning activities to identify missing authentic-learning or gender-inclusive elements and propose concrete improvements.
