Keep Calm and Follow the SEER - 2025 Update
In the two and a half years since its inception, the SEER has made significant strides in its mission to establish the Roadmap to STE(A)M education in Europe.
Thanks to an in-depth analysis of European practices and policies and widespread surveying of European education stakeholders including teachers and policymakers, the project has built a detailed picture on the opportunities and challenges to integrated STEM education in Europe. The needs of students, educators and other stakeholders along with the clear directions to a STE(A)M future will be at the core of the Roadmap that will be unveiled later this year.

THE ROADMAP IDEA
The STE(A)M Education European Roadmap is the SEER’s primary vehicle for enhancing STE(A)M education across Europe. It provides clear guidance on the policy and institutional changes required to advance and integrate STEM education, tailored to meet the needs of a diverse range of stakeholders within the education sector.
The roadmap, presented for the first time at the Eminent 2024 conference, constitutes the culmination of a rigorous analysis and exchange process that has been particularly rich during this second phase, and which is documented in a series of deliverables. You can read the presentation of the STE(A)M Roadmap Idea here.
NEW DELIVERABLES
In its latest phase, the SEER examined a variety of European practices and policies related to STE(A)M education.
This work is presented in the Mapping of STEM Education practices and policies V2 - Current Trends in STEM Education (Deliverable 1.2), drawing on valuable insights from the analysis of EU initiatives and national STEM policies.
An indispensable initial overview of the present state of STE(A)M education, the report encompasses a wide range of aspects, from the status of this field to the primary challenges to be addressed, along with an analysis of the prevailing trends.
Further insights were extracted through the findings of six focus groups and two seminars. These findings are presented in the Report on Exchange Activities Y2 (Deliverable 2.2), which contains a compilation and analysis of the data gathered. This report provides valuable input from a range of stakeholders, enabling us to refine our understanding of the obstacles to- and potential solutions for advancing STE(A)M education.
Carrying on with this point, the Analysis of Educators and Industries’ Needs and Gaps in STE(A)M Education (Deliverable 3.2) explores good examples, as well as requirements and deficiencies for better STE(A)M education, from the viewpoint of educators and industry, and how a stronger link between school-industry collaborations could support this improvement.
