Bridging the Digital Divide in Education
The ‘Bridging the Digital Divide in Education’ initiative, brought by Scientix STEM Alliance and Xiaomi, a consumer electronics manufacturing company, aims to support underprivileged educational institutions such as schools/STEM clubs/ educational centres with the tech tools they need. Are you working in an educational institution that is facing challenges such as limited or no device availability, lack of teacher training on the use of tech tools, budget constraints, or other barriers? Apply through the 2025 STEM Discovery Campaign and have a chance to participate in the initiative your institution might benefit from.
What do you need to do?
- Submit an entry to the 2025 SDC map, by answering the question: "Which are the challenges that your school, science club or educational centre faces regarding the integration of technology into teaching and learning (e.g., device availability, training, budget for technology etc.)"?
- Name your entry: Xiaomi-Add name of the school (e.g. Xiaomi-European Schoolnet).
- Select the category: “Provided feedback to a survey on STEM education / commented on a STEM topic on an ongoing online discussion”.
During the campaign, you may be invited to participate in the second step: a survey, to give some additional insights about the situation at your educational institution.
This two-step approach will result in the selection of a total of ten (x10) schools, STEM clubs, or educational institutions to participate in a pilot study. As part of this study:
- Your institution will receive 10 tablets.
- Two people (x2) from your school/centre (you and a colleague or two other colleagues) will be involved in a pilot program where you will use these tablets and evaluate the overall experience.
- Two people (x2) from your school/centre (you and a colleague or two other colleagues) will be invited to a Science Project Workshop in Brussels at EUN premises in summer 2025.
