Scientix campaigns in STEM education

Regularly Scientix schedules campaigns for science educators, as well as learners, researchers and policy-makers. The main aim of this activity is to present what the Scientix project and community have to offer and what are the main benefits for those target groups. Those campaigns pay attention to the multiple facets of Scientix, which is a community for networking, collaboration, sharing, innovation and continuous professional development (CPD) in science education, both face-to-face and online.

The 2023 STEM Discovery Campaign

The theme for the 2023 STEM Discover Campaign was STEM Identities. The campaign ran from 1 February to 30 April 2023 with a peak of activities during the week of 24 to 30 April.

Diversity in STEM 2018


Ever wondered why STEM education and careers are not as diverse as they could be? Interested in finding out how we can help address STEM stereotypes? Diversity is an essential element for STEM innovation! For this reason, STEM Alliance invites schools, teachers, career counsellors, companies and anyone else interested in STEM education to take part in the ‘Diversity in STEM' campaign. The campaign runs between 24 September and 16 November 2018 with various activities taking place and resources launched. Curious how you can participate?

STEM Discovery Week 2018 was a joint international initiative of projects, organisations and schools across Europe and around the world, celebrating careers and studies in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM). The tagline for this year’s campaign “say yes to STEM” described the partners’ open-minded and dedicated support to STEM subjects at school, as well as wide-ranging collaboration among stakeholders in the area.

STEM Discovery Week 2017


The second edition of the STEM Discovery Week took place from 24-30 April 2017! This year, Scientix launched three contests on this occasion where teachers and other educators can make their own posters, organise events in STEM education or discuss their favourite science books!

Scientix selected two winners in each competition who were invited to a Science Projects Workshop at the Future Classroom Lab in Brussels 23 to 25 June 2017! Additionally, the STEM Alliance project invited teachers to the same workshop as part of the new "Professionals Go Back To School" scheme.

With the end of the summer season comes the new school year and students return to their studies, well-equipped and full of energy. This is also the time for teachers to prepare for the academic activities for the coming months and set the tone for the upcoming year through interesting and educational initiatives. This is particularly important when it comes to STEM subjects, as motivating young people to pursue science and technology fields is essential for forming a capable and innovative workforce in Europe. With the Back to School campaign, the STEM Alliance project aims at facilitating the relationship between industries and schools in order to provide a variety of opportunities to engage young people in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics.

STEM Discovery Week 2016

Scientix supported actively the STEM Discovery Week 2016, an initiative of the STEM Alliance project. As part of its sustainability strategy, Scientix provided support by expanding the information gathered by industry, to public funded projects and teachers in science education, in order to help link public and non-public financed initiatives. Additionally, Scientix helped spread information about the various events, competitions and resources in science education during the STEM Discovery Week. Among those was a webinar, online chat and the STEM4YOU video competition!

Media in STEM

From January to March 2016, Scientix organised an award competition around the “best use of media in STEM classes” from January to March 2016 in cooperation with the Media and Learning Association. STEM teachers in Europe were invited to submit examples that showed innovative use of media in their classes. The jury received 73 contributions in total that were submitted via the social media networks Facebook and Twitter. Winners in each category were selected on 22 February 2016 and they invited to participate in a workshop in Brussels, Belgium, on 9 March 2016, in conjunction with the Media and Learning Conference and the MEDEA Awards.

Scientix Works

Scientix Works was a very successful campaign in terms of outreach, additional traffic to the Scientix online portal and impact on key stakeholders in STEM education in Europe. Together the #ScientixWorks and #EMINENT2015 campaign generated more than 6,000,000 impressions on Twitter, and weekly web traffic to the Scientix online portal peaked from 16 to 20 November 2015 throughout the whole project period. The campaign’s activities were carried out from September to December 2015.

Did you know?

Did you know bannerThe “did you know?” campaign presented different assets of the Scientix community in a series of sixteen (plus five extra messages) messages disseminated twice a week via Facebook and Twitter (Scientix on Twitter, Facebook page of European Schoolnet, and the Facebook Group Science Teachers in Europe).

Keep sharing

The Scientix campaign "Keep Sharing" was organised around three four key elements: (1) the idea of sharing messages about Scientix and science education on social media (2) a Twitter competition (3) social media activity during the second Scientix conference in October 2014 and (4) an e-mail campaign.
