Scientix Awards are dedicated to celebrating outstanding achievements of educators in science education across various educational themes and domains, fostering innovation and promoting excellence in teaching and learning

To be considered for Scientix Awards when submitting each entry, you just need to click ‘I agree’ to the statement: ‘I agree for my entry to be considered for the Scientix Awards.’

Follow these basic steps to enter a Scientix Awards:

  • Log in with your EUN username and password (register as a user if you haven't already)
  • Fill out the submission form on the STEM Discovery Campaign App or Scientix Platform.
  • Click ‘I agree’ to the statement: ‘I agree for my entry to be considered for the Scientix Awards.’
  • Pin an activity on the map (instructions here)
  • NOTE: If you implement the activity with your colleagues, indicate their names in the ’Description’ section of the Submission Form.

Scientix Awards will take into account the information provided in the description of the activity in the Submission Form, as well as any additional information linked in the description or the ‘Website’ question, such as:

  • a more detailed ‘Story of Implementation' (using this or any other template),
  • a full new ‘Learning Scenario’ (any available template), or anything else. 

These are the Scientix Awards planned for the 2024 STEM Discovery Campaign and their criteria:

The Scientix Awards

Scientix Terra Mission Award

The Scientix Terra Mission Award will honour teachers and educators (students aged 4 to 19) organizing environmental education activities that inspire students to take climate action. Activities can be a) Trees Planting Events organized using the Life Terra School Planting Guide, b) classroom implementations of the Terra Mission Educational Pack. Check out the Terra Mission MOOC Rerun for more inspiration for your activities and share your experience with your peers.

Prizes: Winners (x2) will be invited to participate in very important dissemination activities, educational initiatives and training opportunities organized by Life Terra or Scientix, gaining this way immense visibility for themselves and their schools.

Scientix Bioeconomy Award

SDC22The Scientix Bioeconomy Award supported by GenB will honour teachers and educators (students aged 4 to 19) working on raising awareness among new generations about the importance of transitioning to bioeconomy, circular economy, and a more sustainable lifestyle. Activities can be a) hands-on classroom actions, b) Bio-Art galleries, or c) promote careers in bioeconomy (e.g. through role-playing games). Check out and use one or more materials provided on the link  or explore the GenB virtual library and share the implementation process with their peers. 

Prizes: Winners (x4) will receive a set of GenB project merchandise for the most effective use of materials. In addition, one (x1) winner will receive an invitation to the 2024 Science Project Workshop in Brussels for the best use of all three bioeconomy activities.

Scientix Nature-Based Solutions in Education Award

SDC20The “Scientix: Nature-Based Solutions in Education” Award, supported by NBS EduWORLD, will look at educators that showcase their commitment to sustainability education through nature-based solutions (NBS) activities. NBS EduWORLD will look at a) new Learning Scenarios on NBS using the NBS EduWORLD template; b) good examples of using an existing NBS Learning Scenario shared by video or through an NBS EduWORLD story of implementation; c) new creative NBS activities for non-formal education shared as a video, presentation, or short article detailing how the NBS activity was conducted in non-formal education settings (e.g., sports clubs, youth centres, etc.).

NBS activities should be linked to at least one GreenComp area and at least one of the 12 societal challenge areas, and must address at least one of the following topics: air quality; land regeneration; new economic opportunities and green jobs; social justice and social cohesion; water management; biodiversity enhancement; natural and climate hazards. 

Prizes: Winners (x2) will be invited to the 2024 Science Project Workshop in Brussels. In addition, all runner ups will be invited to participate in key activities, educational initiatives, training opportunities and dissemination campaigns organized by NBS EduWORLD. 

Scientix Digital Cultural Heritage Award

SDC20The Scientix Digital Cultural Heritage Award is supported by the Deployment of a Common European Data Space for Cultural Heritage (Europeana DS) project. The award will honour teachers in primary, secondary and post-secondary education, VET and special education of any subject, museum educators, and other CHI professionals (like librarians, archivists, curators and other non-formal educators) who implement a learning scenario from the Teaching with Europeana blog in their educational activity and share the implementation process with their peers, for example with the official Europeana Story of Implementation template.

Prizes: Winners (x21) will be invited to the 2024 Europeana workshop in Brussels.

Scientix Particle Accelerators Award

SDW2019

The Scientix Particle Accelerators Award will honour teachers and educators (students aged 4 to 19) implementing classroom activities related to particle accelerators. Activities can be inspired by the content of the Accelerate Your Teaching MOOC.

Prizes: Winners (x4) will be invited to the Science Project Workshop in Brussels.

Scientix School EdTech Innovation Award 

SDW2018The Scientix School EdTech Innovation Award supported by Huawei invites educators to engage their students in creating projects that leverage ICTs to tackle real-world challenges. It is an opportunity to bridge what has been learned in school with real-life situations, and explore technology’s potential, learn through hands-on experiences, as well as collaborate to create solutions that genuinely matter in our world.  
Prizes: Winners (x2) will be invited to the 2024 Science Project Workshop in Brussels.

Scientix Techie Award 

SDW2017The Scientix Techie Award supported by Microsoft and Aurora Publishing Ltd. calls for educators to carry out classroom activities with their students integrating different technologies into their classrooms, such as Microsoft Learning Accelerators and other resources and products available, allowing them to provide students with an enriched learning experience. 
Prizes: Winners (x3) will receive a physical copy of the book ‘50 women in Technology’ by G.Ferry, I. Almeida and B. Greenwood and an invitation to the 2024 Science Project Workshop in Brussels.

Scientix Panorama Award

STEM Discovery Week BannerThe Panorama Award, supported by GSMA, will award the educators that provide the most thoughtful responses to the questionnaire, encouraging them to critically elaborate on their experiences, address critical issues in science education, identify progresses, and highlight areas that demand attention.

Prizes: Winners (x3) will be invited to the 2024 Science Project Workshop in Brussels.

Scientix Skills for Innovation Educator Award

STEM Discovery Week BannerThe Scientix Skills for Innovation Educator Award, supported by Intel celebrates teachers and educators who excel in integrating technology and fostering innovation in classroom activities. STEM Discovery Week BannerScientix STEM influencers Award, supported by OneStream, is intended for the participants whose activities had the greatest impact, e.g., involved the greatest number of people.

Scientix STEM Contributors Award

STEM Discovery Week BannerScientix STEM Contributors Award supported by Twinscience, calls for the participants who did not have time or means to organize their own activity but took part in other STEM-related activities including participating in trainings, events, MOOCs, providing feedback to surveys, commenting to STEM related videos, etc. Prizes: Winners (x2) will receive an invitation to the 2024 Science Project Workshop in Brussels and the runner ups (x3) will receive a Robotics and Coding Pack by Twinscience.
