The 2025 Scientix Awards

Scientix Awards are dedicated to celebrating outstanding achievements of educators in science education across various educational themes and domains, fostering innovation and promoting excellence in teaching and learning.

 

Note by agreeing to the Terms and Conditions of the 2025 STEM Discovery Campaign, you agree for your entry to be considered for the Scientix Awards.

Follow these basic steps to enter a Scientix Awards:

  • Log in with your EUN username and password (register as a user if you haven't already)
  • Fill out the submission form on the STEM Discovery Campaign App or Scientix Platform
  • Pin an activity on the map (instructions here)
  • NOTE if you implement the activity with your colleagues, indicate their names in the ’Description’ section of the Submission Form.

 

Scientix Awards will take into account the information provided in the description of the activity in the Submission Form, as well as any additional information linked in the description or the ‘Website’ question, like:

  • a more detailed ‘Story of Implementation' (using this or any other template),
  • a full new ‘Learning Scenario’ (using this or any other template), or anything else.
  • a ‘Career Sheet’ to introduce an expert/ professional to students (using this or any other template)

Scientix® Awards for Cooperation and Integration

For those Awards related to cooperation and inclusion, among other related concepts.

 

Scientix Open Doors to Science Award

The Scientix Open Doors to Science Award, supported by SLEs, will celebrate outstanding teachers and classroom projects that outline open schooling to help everyone learn science in different places, including schools and informal learning environments. To be considered, create a Learning Scenario about one of the SLEs of the project.

The Scientix Inclusive Creators Award, supported by SpicE, will celebrate teachers who submit the best entries that show they are integrating the knowledge from the SpicE training programme.

Create a Story of Implementation using the SpicE template where you show how you integrate the knowledge from the SpicE training programme.

For those Awards related to digitalisation and use of technology in education.

 

Scientix EdTech Pioneers Award

The Scientix EdTech Pioneers Award, supported by EmpowerED, will celebrate educators who have made significant contributions to the integration of educational technology (EdTech) in both traditional and innovative classroom settings. The term “EdTech” encompasses both hardware and software. This Award is open to educators working with students of all age groups.Integrate educational technology in the classroom and create either:

  • Action Plan (if you have completed the MOOC)
  • Learning Scenario

Use a resource from the Europeana.eu platform or a Learning Scenario from the Teaching with Europeana Blog.

Scientix® Awards for STEM Careers

For those Awards related to promotion of STEM careers on different levels of education.

 

Scientix Early Foundations Award

The Scientix Early Foundations Award, supported by Timken and the OUTSTE(A)M project, will celebrate teachers in nursery and primary education, who have shown students the different and exciting careers available in STEM through real-world examples and STEM professionals’ advice. Create either a Job Profile, Learning Scenario or a Story of Implementation.

The Scientix Climate Gamechanger Award, supported by CarbonAct, recognises teachers who have successfully implemented inquiry-based activities for the teaching of climate change. Scientix Circular Choice Award

The Scientix Circular Choice Award, supported by Clarios and the GenB project, celebrates educators who showed exceptional dedication to promoting sustainable and circularity practices in the classroom activities. This award will recognize the most impactful projects that emphasize the importance of the seamless incorporation of circularity principles within STEM education, such as bioeconomy and the 3Rs (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle) among others. Scientix NBS Infrastructures Award

The two streams of the Scientix NBS Infrastructures Award, supported by NBS EduWORLD, will celebrate nature-based solutions (NBS) related to infrastructure in formal and non-formal education.

  • Stream 1 “NBS Infrastructure: Urban Scouter”: 1) scout the urban surroundings to discover any buildings or other infrastructures that are facing environmental and/or social challenges, 2) add a photo of them to the NBS Explorer App to find out how they could be improved through NBS, 3) post in the NBS EduWORLD Discussion Space how that has inspired formal or non-formal education activities, and add that post to the SDC25 Map.
  • Stream 2: “NBS Infrastructure: School improver”: 1) Identify parts of the school infrastructure in need of improvement (sports facilities, building, yard), 2) plan how they can be improved through nature-based solutions, 3) post about that on the SDC25 Map.

Prize: Winners (x2) at beginner/ advanced level of NBS will be invited to the upcoming 2025 Science Projects Workshop in Brussels; Winners (x10) at expert level of NBS will be invited to the upcoming 2025 NBS EduWORLD Summer School in Greece. Good practices will be disseminated via the NBS EduWORLD and Scientix channels.

The Scientix Learning Tides Award, supported by ProBleu, will celebrate outstanding activities tackling the topic of ocean literacy. Create either a Learning Scenario, Story of Implementation, Video or Other. Check out the ProBleu Resource Catalogue, for more dynamic online resources designed to promote water literacy and ocean education in primary and secondary schools.

Scientix Waste to Wonder Award

The Scientix Waste to Wonder Award, supported by Lenovo, will celebrate educators who have led hands-on classroom activities exploring the intersection of STEM and sustainability and creating innovative projects that integrate technology while reusing simple waste materials, such as cardboards and packaging. The aim is to transform everyday recycled materials into prototypes for sustainable everyday practices, such solar-powered ovens, vertical gardens, wind turbines, hydraulic systems, compost bins and much more. Educators can benefit from the Lenovo’s Activity Booklet as inspiration, that guides teachers on integrating practical, real-world activities into STEM lessons, while fostering students’ sustainable practices that can shape a smarter, greener future.

The Scientix Contributors Award, supported by Airbus Foundation, acknowledges participants who did not have time or means to organise their own activity but took part in other STEM-related activities including participating in trainings, events, MOOCs, providing feedback to surveys, commenting to STEM related videos, etc.

The Scientix Influencer Award, acknowledges participants whose activities had the greatest impact, e.g., involved the greatest number of people.

The Scientix Organisers Award, recognises the most meritorious entries submitted by an organisation, institution, or other collective entity.

Bonus Prizes

SMART Technologies, partner of the Scientix STEM Alliance, is offering the following additional prizes:
