Why is your company joining the Scientix STEM Alliance?
Clarios, the home of VARTA Automotive, is excited to join the Scientix STEM Alliance to collaborate with like-minded organizations and educators who are passionate about advancing STEM education across Europe. As the world's largest manufacturer and supplier of low-voltage batteries and solutions. and as an industry advocate for sustainability and circularity, Clarios wishes to apply its technological and educational expertise to enrich STEM teaching in schools and inspire future STEM professionals.
Membership in the Scientix STEM Alliance enables us to highlight best practices in the sustainable production and consumption of automotive batteries, a product that has historically been associated with high toxicity, energy consumption, and environmental impact. Today, Clarios provides automotive batteries and smart solutions for every type of vehicle, with our products found in one out of three cars on the road today. The use of new smart technologies allows us to make the product safe and reliable while 100% of Clarios products sold are designed to be recyclable, reducing energy and raw material needs and driving down CO2 emission. We want to work with the community of school educators to integrate such industry examples into STEM education and career guidance, and thus to contribute meaningfully to the enrichment of STEM education.

What does your company want to achieve with its support to the Scientix STEM Alliance?
Clarios aims to achieve several key objectives through its support of the Scientix STEM Alliance.
Firstly, we seek to provide educators with access to high-quality, sustainability-focused STEM materials that can be integrated into their teaching practices. Up until now, most of our educational efforts were focused on the users of our products, as well as young auto mechanics and apprentices. Through this project, we aim to collaborate closely with educators to tailor these resources to meet the instructional and learning requirements across schools in Europe and partner countries. By doing so, we hope to enhance the learning experience of students by equipping them with the necessary knowledge and skills to address future challenges and thrive in an ever-evolving world.
Secondly, Clarios is dedicated to establishing new professional development opportunities and resources for teachers, which will help educators effectively teach STEM subjects with a strong focus on sustainability and circular economy principles.
Lastly, we aspire to create an innovative culture within the STEM education community by sharing our best practices and collaborating on projects that promote environmental stewardship and sustainable development. Through our involvement in the Scientix STEM Alliance, Clarios aims to make a meaningful impact on STEM education and contribute to the creation of a more sustainable and resilient future.
