About the project

The project STEAM ↔ STREAMS (Wellbeing – Green – Sustainability) challenges schools in Ireland to re-imagine the future of STEAM education.

The project issued an open call to a diverse range of schools throughout Ireland to submit proposals that would honour the mission and vision of SCIENTIX, while also addressing 21st-century teaching and learning beyond STEAM education. Their approaches had to be based on the insight that students and teachers will benefit from real-life, outdoor learning in outdoor classrooms. The solutions had to be transferable and relevant to schools throughout the EU, and had to promote and foster community building, holistic learning, cutting-edge digital skills, and ecological sustainability, among other aspects.

Out of the responses to the open call, three innovative applications were chosen by an independent panel. While the selected activities use different approaches, all are driven by students, teachers and their whole-school communities. All embrace STEAM ↔ STREAMS (Wellbeing - Green – Sustainability) in ways that creatively explore 'The Future of Now'.

The project is coordinated by the Dublin West Education Centre, in collaboration with the Irish National Teachers Organisation, the Technology University Tallaght, and the South Dublin County Council, and is supported by the Scientix STE(A)M Partnerships programme. These partners will work with the three schools listed below to create outdoor environments hosting the future of STEAM education – Now!
