On 5-6 June 2012, depending on where you are on Earth, there will be a transit of Venus, a rare phenomenon that is not to be repeated until December 11, 2117.
The latest transits were on 1761, 1769, 1874, 1882 and on June 8, 2004.

Hello,
We work very well with talented students.
We have special coursces to prepare our talented students for Olympides. Bulgarian students win in International Physics and Astronomical olympides. This is because of teachers work additional with this students, some time without salary. When students are selected to international team special team of teachers and proffesors teach them during 2 weeks. We have also a lot of Summer schools for talented students. My student, participated at National Astronomical Olympiad was selected to participate at Summer School in Kadjali this summer.

The creation of a problematic situation helps students to reach the appropriate conclusion is very important to build their technical thinking. As we are computer school for my students is very important to have technical phinking. I use simulations and "quality problems".

Odysseus contest

Hello,
The EPS together with Signosis, EA, and Space Expo, will be organising a European contest for high school students, called Odysseus. The project is open to teams of up to 5 students (ages 14 to 18) plus their teacher/mentor. They will be asked to develop a project on themes relating to space and astronomy.

The contest opens in July 2012, when student can begin to upload their projects. Participation is open to teams of students (maximum 5 team members) between 14 to 18 years old. Each team will also include a teacher as a mentor. Each team will design and demonstrate an interactive project in one of the three themes. To participate, the teams must be located in a European Union Member State.

Establish - European Science and Technology in Action Building Links with Industry, Schools and Home is very interesting project.
You can find very interesting TEACHER INFORMATION and CLASSROOM MATERIALS about sounds. The unit Sound is divided into 3 subunits and is enriched with many ICT activities in which a sound sensor, an interface and software are used to record sound and to analyse the resulting sound waveforms. Students can enyoj with very interesting measurments.

I use moodle system in my school, but mainly for self-tests, periodically change issues. In our country not yet adopted online exam in high school ... We are in the process of organizing e-learning for secondary school. I have noticed a great interest of the good students to additional online training. Students interested in modeling processes used by Inspire teachers project and Phet, and other materials posted on Scientix platform. I have several of their presentations on astronomy software SalsaJ. I consider that the new methods to retain the interest of students to study science. Of course, the motivation must also be adequately resourced, but unfortunately this is still no political will.

The project name was Xperimania. The deadline for this competitions has been extended to 15 October 2011 and the topic was "the role of women in chemistry".
There was 3 competitions:
1. Portrait of a woman chemist
2. Create a campaign on women and chemistry
3. Make a poster on women and chemistry
