COMBLAB: The Acquisition of Science Competencies through ICT Real Time Experiments.
COMBLAB supports the initial and continuous training of teachers on the use of ICT real time experiments in teaching science.
The objectives of the project are:
• Develop a theoretical and practical framework for using ICT real time experiments in the classroom
• Develop teaching materials to support the use of ICT real time experiments in the classroom
• Develop teacher training materials to support teachers in using ICT real time experiments
• Establish a community of teachers and researchers to exchange experiences and good practices in the field.
• Establish contacts with national and local education authorities in each participating country to promote the activities and outcomes of the project at national level
The main focus is on Chemistry, Physics and Biology teaching and learning in secondary schools.
Basic information
For researchers there is a significant body of work to be undertaken. Because ICT real time experiments are a new technology there is a paucity of such teacher training materials available and the project undertakes to remedy this.
There is an extensive body of work to be undertaken in relation to both the development of such materials and the sharing of them within the group and their dissemination to a wider audience of interested professionals.
For teachers a public website is to be established enabling them to access the tried and trusted body of research and findings to enhance their professional practice.
It is also envisaged that one of the most important outcomes of this project will be the establishment of a community of teachers/researchers from a variety of countries in order to facilitate the exchange and sharing of good practice in this field.
