Students at different educational stages work together to solve challenging projects in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM), in which they apply design thinking to develop entrepreneurial attitudes.

The ELKARMAKER initiative is a three-year long collaboration between Ikastolen Elkartea and EPS-MU (Basque Country, Spain), which facilitates cooperation among students at different educational stages in various technological contexts. In other words, primary and secondary students work together with students in higher education to define, develop and create projects in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) within the context of compulsory education.

A unique element of this project is its use of design thinking as an integrative pedagogical methodology for solving practical problems. This use of design thinking also fosters entrepreneurial attitudes among the learners, such as creativity, self-confidence and teamworking abilities.
