vidumath - creative video for mathematics

The aim of the vidumaths project is to improve mathematics learning processes through teachers’ and students’ use of creative videos.

The vidumath project is funded by the Erasmus+ framework of the European Union. The project has made and piloted open resources to answer specific questions. It shows students and teachers how creative videos can motivate and engage students, helping them to continue their journey across the ocean of mathematics. Students’ use of videos is an exciting answer to solving the deep problems in mathematics education nowadays, which sees too many low achievers and too many female students who have less than positive attitudes to mathematics.

Series of examples for students, aged 9 to 12, have been created as part of the vidumaths project. Those examples include demonstrations of how students can make their own videos about some basic themes in mathematics. Those examples have been piloted at schools in Europe. Explore the state of the art, check out the vidumath materials on its piloting page or visit the project’s YouTube playlist, which consists of more than 100 videos. If you would like to get more involved, you can explore vidumath’s online course (voc) or attend one of its week-long teacher training courses, which are supported by Erasmus+.
