Education in the 21st century – project teaching and digitisation of education
The main goal of the project is to create interactive tests, animations and videos for secondary school students and teachers. These materials can be used in Maths, Physics, Biology or Descriptive Geometry.
The aims of the project are implementation and interconnection of subjects in the first three years in two majors taught at Prague Secondary Technical School - Information Technologies and Technical Lyceum - and cooperation between the school and universities, such as schooling for students and teachers who are working on graduation projects. The result of such projects is application of study materials for Maths, Physics, Descriptive Geometry, Biology and humanistic subjects as well.
Under this project the following were created:
- 1000 exam questions in Maths, 700 exam questions in Physics and 44 individual study areas for Czech Language classes
- 15 animations, videos and interactive applications used in Maths and 14 for Descriptive Geometry
- 40 videos of experiments used in Physics
- 2 videos on Biology
Furthermore a new subject was created – Student projects, which aim to create an area where students can connect practical and theoretical skills, learn how to work in a group and be able to work systematically on long-run projects. As motivation, a presentation is used at the end of the year and a competition is organised among classes in third grade.
Basic information
A new subject was created – Student projects, which aim to create an area where students can connect practical and theoretical skills, learn how to work in a group and be able to work systematically on long run projects. As motivation, a presentation is used at the end of the year and a competition is organised among classes in third grade. In the first year of this project, 15 classes were involved and separated by grades. The topic for the first grade was “Interpersonal Communication”, the second grade focused on “Leonardo da Vinci” and the third grade had the topic “Far beyond the stars“.
A new portal was created for students via a virtual school which had been used as a communication channel. Each group had a defined space and field of study – they knew what to do, how many points they got from their supervisor, submission date of each deliverable and final evaluation of their work.
The next part of the whole project was digitisation of education. Materials were created for the subjects of Czech language and Literature focusing on recommended books. It was developed for the Maths and Physics system of testing and self-evaluating covering the entire high school curriculum. Sample tests and other materials which have been and will be created are uploaded on the project’s website. In the case of Maths and Descriptive geometry basic areas were visualised for better understanding and easy simulation. Physics videos were also made covering unique and unusual experiments. Two Biology videos were recorded.
In addition the Prague Secondary Technical School has been working hard on cooperation with universities. As a consequence, students were able to look at the problems from a different perspective, become motivated for the next level of studies or find a new field of interest. The universities were sometimes used as consulting partners. Most of the students had attended one of the offered lectures.
The next form of cooperation has been interaction with universities on school graduation year (4th grade). These projects are more difficult than the student project, for example Holography, Acoustics, etc.
Under this project the following were created:
- 1000 exam questions in Maths, 700 exam questions in Physics and 44 individual study areas for Czech Language classes
- Quiz questions – Nuclear physics
- Quiz questions – Stereometry
- Test – Definite Integral
- Test – Astrophysics
- 15 animations, videos and interactive applications used in Maths and 14 for Descriptive Geometry
- Hyperbola – basic attributes
- Playing with plastics
- Infrared and ultraviolet radiation II
- 2 Biology videos
- Heart rate and blood pressure dependence on escalating exercise
All the materials are available on the project's webpage
