Teachers and students invited to the Solar Impulse and Hydrocarbons talk

Additionally, teachers and secondary school students are invited to attend the education session, in the framework of EPCA’s efforts in promoting STEM education (Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics). Bertrand Piccard, President and Initiator of the Solar Impulse project will speak about "Solar Impulse and Hydrocarbons: Building Block for Renewable Energy" and show that hydrocarbons are an essential part of state-of-the-art renewable technologies.

Bertrand Piccard, born into a family of explorers and scientists, is an explorer with a human-oriented vision who promotes the pioneering spirit and innovation in everyday life. After the first ever oceanic crossing with the solar-powered airplane Solar Impulse 2 and record breaking flight from Japan to Hawaii, the second half of the “First Round-The-World Solar Flight” is delayed to April 2016 due to damaged batteries.

The aim of the talk is to connect talented young people with STEM studies (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) to foster an interest in these areas through the exciting Solar Impulse project, which would enable them to choose amongst a variety of challenging and rewarding career paths in their futures.

This talk will be provided in English and registration is required.
