Description
This learning scenario encourages students to learn and care about the importance of water management to tackle urban challenges such as floods and disruption of the water cycle in the urban environment via nature-based solutions (NBS). Through the activities, students will work as scientists following the approach of Inquiry-based learning by following the design process as engineers (or landscape architects). The main topic discussed will be based on the case study “Cloudburst Management Plan, Copenhagen” from <https://oppla.eu/casestudy/18017>. Nature-based solutions (NBS) are solutions that are inspired and supported by nature, which are cost-effective, simultaneously provide environmental, social and economic benefits and help build resilience. Such solutions bring more, and more diverse, nature and natural features and processes into cities, landscapes, and seascapes, through locally adapted, resource-efficient and systemic interventions. Nature-based solutions must therefore benefit biodiversity and support the delivery of a range of ecosystem services.
