In this activity students discuss a text about meat consumption, and the corresponding socioscientific issues. The text describes the environmental load of eating meat and the low efficiency of calorie production through animals, concluding that the more animal products mankind consumes, the fewer the people who will be satisfied. Discussing socioscientific issues prompts students to use different types of discourse, knowledge (school subjects), values and emotions. Furthermore, this specific task presents the students with dilemmas about social justice and scarce resources as well as what they like to eat and what they should eat.
