In this activity students perform research on dynamite fishing within a socioscientific setting. This task sheds light on dynamite fishing from four angles: - Physics: sound waves created by underwater explosions. - Chemistry: workings of dynamite. - Biology: effects on sea-life. - Environment: effect on the local society. Discussing socioscientific issues prompts students to use different types of discourse, knowledge (school subjects), values and emotions. Furthermore, this specific task prompts students to evaluate how to contribute towards a better and fairer world.
