STEM@School, Developing and introducing integrated Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics education to Flemish secondary schools

Over the past decade, there has been a fast-growing shortage of professionals in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM). Yet, young people's interest in STEM declines with age. STEM@School has developed learning materials to orient students towards STEM, based on an integration of all disciplines involved.

STEM PD Net, European STEM Professional Development Centre Network

STEM PD Net (2016-2019) is an innovative Erasmus+ project meant to strengthen European collaboration and exchanges among STEM Professional Development Centres in Europe. The project provides selected materials of highest quality to support STEM Professional Development (PD) and develops guidelines and reference materials that are ready-to-use for STEM PD providers across Europe. Furthermore, among the key targets of STEM PD Net is to reflect and promote the organisational development of the centres in each national context and to strengthen the voice of these centres throughout Europe.

DIS-CODE, Disconnected, discouraged, disenabled? Let's code!

The DIS-CODE project aims at empowering 12 to 18-year-old students by enhancing their digital skills, mathematical competences, coding and transversal skills, such as abstract and analytical thinking, logic and problem-solving skills. To this purpose, teachers are trained in the use of innovative teaching and learning methodologies, including gamification, project-based learning and flipped classrooms.

ERIS - Exploitation of Research Results in School practice

The aim of the project is to increase the interest of students in lower and upper secondary schools in mathematics and science, and promote the choice of a scientific career. Thanks to the development, pilot implementation and dissemination of educational packages and methodological materials, the research results are exploited in the education systems of 3 European countries.

STEM School Label

With the STEM School Label, school representatives are able to evaluate their school via an online self-assessment tool, according to criteria defining a STEM School. This self-assessment tool identifies areas that require development and provides training and resources for its participating schools, with the aim of improving their activities in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) at the school level.
