Continuing an active learning in photonics and optics

The International Year of Light and Light-based Technologies (IYL2015) was officially closed at a grand ceremony at the beginning of February 2016, in the city of Mérida, Mexico. Thousands of education-based events were organised in 148 countries last year due to this initiative of the United Nations.

Record interest among STEM teachers in Brussels workshops

The tenth Science Projects Workshop at the Future Classroom Lab welcomed 42 teachers of science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM) and 16 project representatives at European Schoolnet from 26 to 28 February 2016. More than 500 teachers had applied for the 42 spaces available for this workshop.

302 top researchers receive 585 million Euros

The European Research Council (ERC) has awarded 302 mid-career researchers for their contributions to the 2015 Consolidator Grant competition. They receive a total amount of 585 million Euros, funded as part of the Horizon 2020 programme for research and innovation.

New video and coding contests: Think Big, Think Ocean
