A new STEM framework introduced for schools in Flanders

Schools and teachers who would like to rethink or enhance their approach to science education in Flanders, Belgium, gained an important tool when a new STEM framework document was introduced by the Flemish Department of Education and Training. This framework lays out some common principles and practices for such enhancement.

Register for this autumn teaching course at a special rate

Teachers can now register for a six days long training course for STEM teachers to be held at the Future Classroom Lab of European Schoolnet from 14 to 19 September 2016. This course is co-organised with the Scientix project, the community for science education in Europe.

A shortage of science teachers is expected in the near future in Europe and several countries report that this is already the case. Teachers' salaries play a major role in this respect.

eTwinning improves teachers' cross-curricular skills and much more!

A recent survey carried out as part of the eTwinning project, which celebrated its tenth anniversary in 2015, shows incredibly positive results about its impact on the teachers' community. An overwhelming majority of the project's participants say that it has helped them improve their skills in various different areas.

Starred STEM projects presented at Scientix workshop for teachers

Scientix was pleased to welcome 47 science teachers and 15 representatives of projects in science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM) education to the Future Classroom Lab from 18 to 20 March 2016. Among them were two projects that won the eighth Scientix resource award.

Empowering student-led research in authentic biology

Food for science: Training for Dutch speaking teachers

The ULB Experimentarium of Physics and the "Culture in vivo" organisation in Belgium invite secondary school teachers to attend the training course "food for science" on 20 April and 26 May 2016. This course is free of charge and is offered in the Dutch language only.

MOOC developing digital skills and using games in classrooms

Two new and exciting Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) for primary and secondary school teachers are kicked off at the European Schoolnet Academy this April. First is a MOOC about digital skills in the classroom starting on 4 April, which is followed by a course about games in schools starting on 18 April 2016.
