Bring bioeconomy into your classrooms and prepare your entries for the “BLOOM Stories of implementation” competition!

All over Europe and beyond, teachers are looking for innovative ways of engaging their students with the big issues facing today’s societies. In collaboration with the STEM Discovery Campaign 2020, the BLOOM project is inviting primary and secondary school teachers of all subjects to use bioeconomy as a way of engaging pupils in school subjects, and to share their stories of implementation! Teachers can start organising their lessons starting from this November and prepare their stories to be submitted in February 2020!

The highlights of Scientix 3: the final publication revealed!

Have you ever wondered how big Scientix is? How many projects it gathers, how many Scientix Ambassadors support the project or how many people follow it regularly? Scientix has just published the final publication of the third phase of the project, summarising the last three years full of outstanding events, projects, resources and other activities. Without doubt, it was an intense and exciting time for the Scientix community.

Finland’s education system has been at the top of the rankings for many years now and the country has become world famous for its high quality. Scientix is taking a closer look on the STEM part of the new Finnish national core curriculum for upper secondary education published on 7 November by the Finnish National Agency for Education.

Results from the Teaching ICT with Inquiry MOOC are here!

Started on 9 September 2019, the TIWI - Teaching ICT with Inquiry MOOC aimed at supplying teachers with essential skills and knowledge to teach STEM and ICT with the help of inquiry-based pedagogy. The focus of this online training was for primary and secondary school teachers to familiarize with the programming languages Scratch and Python, as well as knowing how to efficiently use data spreadsheets.

The first newsletter of STEM School Label is published!

The STEM School Label is proud to announce that it is now supported by two new associate partners: GSMA and DOREA Educational Institute. As associate partners, they will integrate the STEM School Label framework within some of their activities. We are excited about this development and look forward to involving even more partners in this project.

The Next-Lab project: what’s to come?

The Next-Lab project is implemented in the context of the European Union’s Horizon 2020 programme. The philosophy and technology of Next-Lab is based on its previous project Go-Lab and it continues its mission of promoting innovative and interactive methods of teaching science in primary and secondary schools across Europe. The Go-Lab Ecosystem (sharing and authoring platforms) facilitates the use of online laboratories and inquiry-based learning applications for science education in schools.

Present your innovative coding project in the European Code League

It is up to teachers to incorporate this topic into their lessons in order to prepare children and young people for the future. Therefore, Science on Stage is now launching the European Code League, an international competition for STEM teachers from all over Europe to present their unique coding projects for STEM lessons!

Registration for StarT 2019-2020 is open!

StarT, organised annually by the LUMA Centre Finland, is an educational initiative in which students carry out projects related to science, technology or mathematics and teachers get support for carrying out interdisciplinary and collaborative project-based learning. In the international competition teachers’ best educational practices and children and youngsters’ innovative projects are celebrated with awards and publicity.
