Here you will find information about face-to-face activities organised by Scientix (e.g. workshops in European Schoolnet’s Future Classroom Lab or at other venues) and Scientix’s contributions to conferences, workshops and other events.
You can find the presentations, programmes, etc. of past events here, but you can also see at what events and when Scientix will be present in the future.
Science projects workshop in the Future Classroom Lab
The Future Classroom Lab (FCL) , an independent project of European Schoolnet (EUN) and based at the office of EUN in Brussels, Belgium, provides a platform where policy-makers can rethink their ICT strategies and where teachers, head teachers and ICT advisers can experiment with innovative pedagogical approaches within flexible learning environments. It provides both a large reconfigurable space equipped with state-of-the-art technology and a room designed as an interactive classroom to illustrate how a traditional classroom setting can use technology to enhance interactivity and student participation.
Science events in the FCL are organised under the umbrella name of “Science Projects Workshop in the Future Classroom Lab”. This term was penned during the first phase of the Scientix project, after the first Science Projects Workshop in the FCL was organised by Scientix. These events aim at both training teachers in the use of technologies in the classroom in association with materials and pedagogies from projects and encourage science projects to work together
Scientix workshops at other events
Scientix workshops are continually taking place in different locations in Europe within the context of events organised by other projects or organisations.
The aim of these workshops is at either presenting the services of Scientix to teachers, project managers or other relevant actors in science education or at serving as facilitators to the presentation of other science education projects.
If you know about an event where Scientix could contribute to the programme or you would like to be included in a Scientix workshop as a presenter, send us an e-mail at agueda.gras (at) eun.org.
To ensure a greater dissemination of Scientix and its services to project managers, teachers and researchers in science education, it is important to be present at as many events as possible (be it with posters, presentations or for networking).
These presentations at different events facilitate the possibility of Scientix being of service to the other projects and STEM initiatives.
Scientix organises regularly webinars that are open to everyone free of charge! Webinars are an online training forum, and an ideal opportunity for educators to stay up to date with developments in science teaching and learning.
The webinars are usually one-hour long and great for anyone who wants to explore exciting topics in STEM education, such as 1:1 computing, language learning in the science classroom, STEM in lower grades at school, or online science simulations in Inquiry-Based Science Education (IBSE).
The Scientix Moodle was designed as a peer learning platform for exchange of good practices among STEM teachers. The most recent courses on the Moodle platform were developed by teachers from a variety of national backgrounds, who shared from their experiences of using different tools and pedagogies in their classrooms. The courses are self-paced and can be accessed by anyone, at any time. Users do not need to create a Moodle account to follow them.
From September 2016 to February 2017, the Scientix Moodle is also the main platform used for the two editions of the Scientix Ambassadors Training Course, organised by Scientix.
Massive Online Open Courses (MOOC)
Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) are a series of online training activities that are made accessible over the Internet to great numbers of people. Although anyone who is interested can sign-up and participate in such MOOCs organised by Scientix, the core audience for such courses are primary and secondary school teachers, head teachers and school principals or education authorities in STEM education.
