European Schoolnet and the Future Classroom Lab (FCL) open their doors to regional and local representatives during the “European Schoolnet FCL Open Day” on Wednesday 12 October 2016 in Brussels. This Open Day is a side event to the European Week of Regions and Cities.

European Schoolnet is the network of 30 European Ministries of Education, based in Brussels, Belgium. As a non-profit organisation, it aims at bringing innovation in teaching and learning to key stakeholders, namely: Ministries of Education, regional and local authorities, schools, teachers, researchers, and industry partners.

Created by European Schoolnet, the Future Classroom Lab (FCL) is an inspirational learning environment in Brussels, which will challenge local authorities to rethink the role of pedagogy, technology and design in the classroom.

The European Week of Regions and Cities is an annual four-day event during which cities and regions showcase their capacity to create growth and jobs, demonstrate how they implement the cohesion policy of the European Union, and prove the importance of the local and regional level for good European governance.

Held in relation with this week-long celebration of regions and cities, the European Schoolnet FCL Open Day, co-organised by Scientix and FCL Regio, is strongly to e-inclusion and STEM careers.

During this one-and-a-half-hour long event, various EU funded projects are presented, such as Scientix, FCL Regio, BIK-NET etc. and the FCL Discovery session. This allows participants to explore how they can collaborate and contribute further to innovation in teaching and learning in line with the objective of supporting the vulnerable groups within their remit and improve employability.
